Dr. Daniela Herescu

Registered Manager
I am a Consultant Psychiatrist with nearly 20 years of experience in mental health care, and I am deeply passionate about providing thoughtful, compassionate, and high-quality support to the people I work with.
Over the course of my career, I have worked across a wide range of settings, including inpatient and community services, independent practice, and multidisciplinary teams. I have supported individuals with diverse and often complex mental health needs, including mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, psychosis, personality difficulties, neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and autism, and learning disability.
My approach is grounded in empathy, clinical knowledge, and balanced decision-making. I believe good psychiatric care is not only about diagnosis and treatment, but about truly understanding the person behind the symptoms — their story, their context, and what matters most to them. I aim to provide care that carefully balances safe, evidence-based clinical management with compassionate, person-centred support.
I am strongly committed to wellbeing, holistic care, and integrated working. For me, effective mental health care means looking at the whole person — emotional, psychological, social, and physical wellbeing — and working collaboratively with families, carers, and other professionals wherever appropriate. I value clear communication and respectful relationships, and I strive to create a space where people feel genuinely listened to, understood, and supported.
On a personal level, being a parent to a child with neurodiversity and special needs has profoundly shaped and enriched my professional perspective. It has given me a deeper appreciation of the realities families face — the advocacy, the resilience, the uncertainties, and the strengths that often go unseen. This lived experience allows me to bridge my professional expertise with personal understanding, strengthening my empathy and reinforcing my commitment to practical, compassionate, and family-aware care.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy cooking and exploring different cuisines, travelling and discovering new cultures, and listening to music — all of which help me maintain balance, curiosity, and creativity. I believe these personal interests enrich my ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and bring warmth and authenticity to my work.
Ultimately, I see my role not only as a manager and clinician but as a partner in someone’s journey toward recovery, stability, and greater resilience.
